The Lenovo Googlebook 15 is no longer a rumor with a name. Mac Observer has obtained Lenovo’s product sheet and a set of high-resolution renders for the laptop. The document identifies the machine as the Lenovo GB 15IPH12, running an operating system Lenovo simply calls Googlebook OS. It arrives days before Google’s media preview of the first Googlebooks in New York on September 15.
This is a premium laptop that happens to run Google’s software, not a Chromebook with a new badge. Consequently, the spec sheet reads like a Windows ultrabook. It follows the August leak that first showed Lenovo’s two laptops and a 2-in-1 tablet for the platform.
A 15.3-inch 120Hz OLED leads the sheet
Lenovo lists a 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen at 2880 x 1800, a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of brightness and full DCI-P3 coverage. The renders show thin side bezels and a slightly raised section around the camera. That camera is a 5MP unit with dual microphones and a physical privacy shutter. In addition, four speakers with Dolby Atmos sit under large grilles on either side of the keyboard.
Inside is an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 with integrated graphics. Buyers get 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x memory and 256GB or 512GB of storage. Moreover, the model code carries a clue: Lenovo’s own naming guide maps IPH to its Panther Lake-H platform. The metal chassis comes in Cloud Grey, weighs 1.29 kg and measures 15.9 mm thick. A 70Wh battery is rated for up to 11 hours of video playback.
A Google key, a Glowbar and Gemini
The keyboard adds a dedicated Google “G” key between Fn and Alt. It gives Googlebook its own equivalent of the Windows or Command key, although Lenovo’s material does not say what pressing it does. The keyboard is backlit, and the haptic touchpad measures 150 x 95 mm. Googlebook branding sits on the palm rest.
The multicolor strip on the lid has a name, Glowbar, and a job: it shows battery and charging status at a glance. Google described the glowbar as the visual signature of every Googlebook when it announced the category in May. Lenovo also lists a fingerprint reader and Google facial authentication. Gemini Intelligence is built in, along with sync to an Android phone for apps and files. However, Lenovo notes that Gemini features are limited to select countries and languages, and to users 18 and older.
Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7 and an AI Mouse
Connectivity is unusually strong for a Google laptop. The sheet lists two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A 3.2 port, HDMI 2.0 and a 3.5 mm jack, plus Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. For comparison, Google’s Chromebook Plus tier only asked partners for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. As a result, the Googlebook 15 sits well above the laptops most people associate with Google.
The accessory list includes a Lenovo AI Mouse for Googlebook, which wears the same multicolor accent as the Glowbar, alongside E310 wireless earbuds and a convertible tote backpack. Lenovo’s documents do not explain what makes the mouse an AI mouse, so Mac Observer declined to guess. So do we.
What is still missing
Price and launch date. Neither appears in the material Mac Observer reviewed. Google said in May that Googlebooks from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo would arrive this fall, and its Android-based platform promises Magic Pointer and other Gemini features. The September 15 preview is a media-only event, so official pricing may still take a while. Until then, this sheet is the clearest picture yet of what a first-wave Googlebook costs to build.
