The Xbox Elite Controller 3 has apparently leaked through Brazil’s Anatel regulator. This one is about Microsoft’s premium controller line. Images circulated by GameSpot and traced to Tecnoblog show a black gamepad with specific hardware changes.
The most eye-catching detail is a pair of small scroll wheels near the headset jack. Their purpose is not confirmed. Their placement still looks intentional, and they could become quick controls for volume, tuning or game commands.

The leak points to practical changes
The regulator images also appear to show the controller opened up. You can see internal pieces and a removable battery pack. That would be a notable change from the Elite Series 2.
A removable pack is not glamorous, but it matters for long-term use. Premium controllers are expensive. Giving owners a clearer path to replace a worn battery would make the hardware feel less disposable.
Reports also mention a revised front button that can switch between paired modes. That could make it easier to move between a console, PC and another connected device.
Still unofficial for now
Microsoft has not announced the Xbox Elite Controller 3, so treat the specs as leaked rather than final. The filing label reportedly names “Elite Controller Series 3.” Prices, release timing and software features are still unknown.
The timing is hard to ignore, though. Xbox has a summer showcase coming. Hardware appearing in a national regulator’s system usually means a product is well past the idea stage.
For players who already use the Elite Series 2, the question is simple. Are scroll wheels, easier device switching and a removable battery enough to upgrade? If the final controller keeps all three, Microsoft may have a cleaner premium pad than the one it has sold since 2019.
