In 2020, some phone manufacturers have made it a norm to ask buyers to shell out a $1000 plus or more for a flagship device, but the LG V60 ThinQ 5G managed to pack all the specs for less. With the most expensive version of the device priced under $950, LG packed the V60 with features, a huge battery life, a Dual-Screen case, 5G and a classic feature like a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Apart from undercutting Samsung’s current Galaxy S20 price of $999, the V60 brings back their Dual Screen accessory that steals the whole show by turning the phone to a multi-tasking device. The Dual Screen case for the V60 gives you the flexibility to have two large 6.8-inch displays for applications, productivity and even pen support.

In the Box
The V60 box contains the LG Pay and Promise documentation, a microfiber cleaning cloth to keep the device smudge-free, and the smartphone right on top. , There’s a USB c 2 USBC cable and a USBC 25W quick charge brick needed to the phone’s massive battery. As for the Dual Screen, the box contains the case, a quick start guide, and a magnetic charger adapter that you’d have to keep handy if you decide to use the V60 with Dual Screen case. You can get the V60 in 2 other different color options white and blue.
HARDWARE
LG pulled it off this time, from the color choice, design and those premium chamfered edges seen in the V10. The V60 is a big phone, it comes with a 6.8-inch FHD OLED Plus display on both the main device and Dual Screen case. The display comes with a native resolution of 2460 by 1080 that is HDR 10 Plus certified.
The phone comes with a triple camera setup centered at the back of the device. The cameras consist of a standard 64-megapixel camera, a 13 megapixel ultra-wide and then the time-of-flight sensor array that’s used for capturing depth information. The semicircle front-facing camera is a 10-megapixel camera that can record videos at 4K 30fps (frames per second). The rear camera can record videos up to 8k 28 frames per second and 4k video captures at 60 frames per second. The V60 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, has 8 gigabytes of RAM, 128gb of storage, and supports T-Mobiles 5g connectivity.
Battery
If your deal-breaker when choosing a smart is a smartphone is a battery, then I’ll say the V60 has incredible battery life. It packs a 5000mAh battery that yields fantastic results. Throughout my usage, I never ended a day with less than 30% battery. Even on a heavy day use that consists of a couple of hours of “screen on” time and powering the Dual Screen case. The 5,000mAh battery and is capable of wireless charging.
Physical Buttons and Ports
The edge of the device houses the bottom-firing speaker, one of four microphones found along different edges of the phone needed for noise cancellation, better recording for audio and video
The top part of the device houses the cutout for the front-firing speakers and front-facing camera.The USB C charging port is right next to the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack that features the usual LG quad DAC system.
The right side of the device houses the power button while the left side placement is for your volume controls and AI button. I like the fact that LG brought back the premium looking chamfered edges.
Setup and Software
The LG V60 is running Android 10 out of the box with the February Android security update. It runs Lg’s UX 9 UI preinstalled with the new Android 10 gestures and everything that comes with. The setup process for the phone is the usual android prompts, and updates will be present if you are connected to the internet. The on-screen fingerprint enrolment process was of no hassle, nice to see LG make the switch.

The left part of the main screen is shared by Google Discover feed and T-Mobile’s Play app “T-Mobile Play is a free service that provides access to 90+ of today’s most popular streaming channels and videos. If you’re running into problems with this app”
There are a few LG apps installed on the device, including an image gallery, FM radio app, LG Health, LG Pay, ThinQ home app, and QuickMemo+. Four games and a web browser, Whale, are installed. As for bloatware, the T-Mobile variant seems to have the least. The T-Mobile version includes the Mobile Hotspot, Visual Voicemail, T-Mobile Play, and Name.
The Dual Screen Case
Calling the Dual Screen an accessory doesn’t do the case any justice. Unlike the Qwerty keyboard case Samsung tried to push with their Galaxy 8+, the Dual Screen is just an awesome addition to V60, and I have little to no complaints about this accessory. Connecting you V60 with the case is as simple as sliding the phone into the case and pushing the top edges to have it snap-in. When the Dual screen case is connected, you’ll get this button that houses all the case’s input options and functions. The fun part of using the case is, you get to use a second that has the same quality as your main screen. There’s a wide view feature that comes with the Dual Screen that allows you to expand compatible apps on both screens by turning on the Wide view button on the Dual Screen tool. It’s practical for some apps and not for others. You literally must see it in action to appreciate it or not.
You get to multitask with both screens and the combination options are limitless. You can also use one screen as a controller when gaming or keyboard when typing. Another cool thing about the case is, it doesn’t get in the way when you don’t need it. If you don’t want to use it, you can simply you can fold it across or fold it to the back so that it’s out of the way when you’re using the dual-screen.
When the case is closed, there’s little secondary display provides basic info like you’re the time, date and battery life. It’s not all praises for the case, as the case is a fingerprint magnet, so I guess you’d have to deal with the glare from the glass finish.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
With a 2020 flagship processor and tons of features, one would expect the LG V60 to start at the $1,000 price, but surprisingly the phone is available now from T-Mobile for $899.99 and that includes the Dual Screen cover. AT&T sells the LG V60 for $899.99 and Verizon sells it for $949.99. LG offers AT&T and Verizon customers a free Dual Screen cover, but you have to submit that claim after you purchase the phone from these carriers. T-Mobile includes the Dual Screen cover with the phone.
Overall
The LG V60 ThinQ 5G is a solid phone and it feels lovely in hand. Paired with the Dual Screen case and pricing, comparing this phone to Samsung’s 2020 flagship lineup, the V60 checks all the right spots.
The displays on the device look great and I look forward to consuming media content on them. The V60 and Dual Screen case have the potential to be a serious productivity machine for those who need the extra screen real estate.
