The US pre-owned listing carries a premium even at the Pro-member price

The GameStop PS5 Pro listing showed a pre-owned console at $1,399.99 on October 12, 2026. That is $500 above Sony’s $899.99 recommended US price for a new PS5 Pro. GameStop’s own New option also displayed $899.99, but the page marked it Not Available.

Buying used usually suggests a saving. Here, shoppers face a substantial premium instead. Sony’s figure is a recommended price for a new console, so the gap is a reference point rather than a like-for-like retail offer.

What the GameStop PS5 Pro page showed

Selecting Pre-Owned displayed two prices: $1,399.99 at the standard rate and $1,329.99 for GameStop Pro members. The page explicitly labeled the lower figure “for Pros.” That membership condition matters when comparing the two offers.

With Pre-Owned selected, the Add to Cart button was active and a two-to-three-business-day delivery estimate appeared. Those details describe what the page displayed during our check. They do not confirm a completed purchase, delivery to every address or stock at every store. Check the condition, price and availability again before ordering.

How it compares with Sony’s price

Sony’s March 27 announcement on the PlayStation Blog set the US recommended retail price for PS5 Pro at $899.99, effective April 2, 2026. That is the benchmark for this comparison, rather than an older launch price.

GameStop’s Pro-member price is still $430 above that benchmark. Membership cuts $70 from the retailer’s standard pre-owned listing; it does not bring the console below Sony’s recommended new price. The $430 comparison excludes membership fees, taxes and other transaction-specific charges.

A recommended price is a useful reference, but it does not guarantee that shoppers can buy a new console immediately. GameStop’s unavailable New option makes that distinction clear. Sony’s US pricing is also the subject of a proposed class action over tariff-related PlayStation price increases, which remains an allegation rather than a finding. Prices and stock can change, so the listing may differ from what the page showed on October 12.
