ArTICam: MOD Turns Your Graphing Calculator To A Selfie Camera

Are you tired of solving so many Algebraic equation in class, why not stop and take a selfie. Graphing calculators are evolving slowly, just last week we saw a playable Super Smash Bros working on a TI-83/84 system. A new Mod from Christopher Mitchell’s latest project, ArTICam, turns your TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus calculator into a selfie-oriented camera. This was achieved by using a Game Boy Camera with ArTICam to capture an image, thanks to the  programmable Arduino board like Uno used for the brains. On the software side of things, the “Arduino firmware is built on a combination of the ArTICL library for connecting calculators and Arduinos, and a modified, abridged version of code called avr-gameboy-cam.” To connect the calculator to the Arduino, two digital pins and ground are required.

It’s also worth to note that the system is compatible with the TI-83 Plus and TI-84 Plus family of calculators. Calling GetCalc from your calculator program takes a 128 x 123 grayscale pictures, though not Instagram worthy, but it’s sure worth giving it a try if you have an old graphing calculator lying around.
