The Anbernic RG 55G1 now has a live sale timer on Anbernic’s official store: August 31 at 3 AM Pacific. The page still says Coming Soon, and Anbernic marks every variant sold out. However, Anbernic already posted prices. The 4GB plus 64GB model is 140 dollars on sale, down from 150 dollars.
Anbernic calls this its first handheld on Qualcomm Snapdragon. The company writes, “As ANBERNIC’s first handheld powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform, the RG 55G1 takes a fresh approach to the classic horizontal form factor.” Instead, it is a compact Android 14 slab with a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, not a Nintendo-licensed Switch Lite.
Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 in a Lite-like shell
The chip is the Snapdragon G1 Gen 2, listed as SG4250P on a 4nm process. Then Anbernic specs two Kryo Gold cores at two point four gigahertz and six Kryo Silver cores at 2 gigahertz, plus an Adreno A12 GPU. Also, RAM and storage come in two kits: 4GB with 64GB, or 8GB with 128GB. A TF slot takes cards up to two terabytes.
The screen is a 5.5-inch Incell IPS panel with OCA full lamination, multi-touch, and 1920 by 1080 pixels. Controls include large-angle 3D Hall joysticks, Hall triggers, and dual-injection molded face buttons. RGB lighting on the sticks can run breath, rainbow, marquee, and chasing modes, or a custom color. A six-axis gyro and a vibration motor round out the inputs.
Anbernic also put active cooling in the shell: a high-speed fan plus a heat pipe. The battery is a 6000 milliamp-hour pack that Anbernic rates for eight hours. Charging is 18 watts over USB-C. The handheld is 20.8 by 8.6 by 1.7 centimeters and 339 grams. Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 are the radios. A 3.5mm jack and DSP sound effects sit next to stereo speakers.
Android 14, RG Home, and Anbernic AI
Software is Android 14 with Anbernic’s own layer. The store lists RG Home, RG Control Center, and RG Key Mapping, plus FOTA updates, streaming, wireless projection, and a Turnip graphics driver that can swap with the native driver. Next, Anbernic bills its AI for one-click game guides, live translation, chat, text-to-image, and image tools. Those are vendor claims, not a hands-on test.
Anbernic lists game support as Android titles and more than 20 emulator types. Anbernic says you can download games in the relevant formats yourself. Therefore that is not a bundled ROM library, and it is not a promise that PS2 or Wii will run full speed. Meanwhile, the company already sells GBA-style clamshells such as the RG SP, so this 55G1 is the horizontal, higher-power lane instead of another flip.
Three colors and a 10 dollar store cut
Colorways are Black, Retro Gray, and Indigo. The box includes the console, a USB charging cable, and a user manual. There is no listed carrying case in the kit. China and US ship-from options appear on the same product page, however every SKU is marked unavailable until the timer hits.

After the sale, the no-card 4GB unit would list at 150 dollars if the compare-at price holds. US warehouse SKUs on the same page skip bundled cards and only offer the no-SD options.
This is a different bet from AYANEO’s KONKR Pocket Advance, which copies a GBA slab, and from ASUS’s much costlier ROG Xbox Ally X20. The RG 55G1 is a 140 dollar Android emulator slab with Hall sticks. Anbernic also posted an official unboxing on its YouTube channel, however the storefront timer is the date that matters. Finally, treat August 31 as the store’s own clock. If Anbernic slips the drop, the Coming Soon badge will stay.
