Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 premieres on Netflix on October 20. Netflix says the standalone series follows a new crew of mercenaries in Night City, and it posted a fresh teaser with that date.
The run is 10 episodes. It is exclusive to Netflix. CD PROJEKT RED also locked the same premiere in its newsroom, and it pointed viewers to a short, action-packed trailer.
A new crew takes Night City
This is not David Martinez’s story. Netflix calls the season a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge in a city that thrives on violence. Meanwhile, the official Cyberpunk site names the new faces: Weak, D, Roman Carax, and Talia Yang.
Weak was once known as King. Now the veteran edgerunner lives without chrome and looks for purpose. D is a Snake Nation netrunner hunting the killer who wiped out his clan. Then there is Roman, a young cinephile chasing real stories after Night City dropped film for braindance. Talia was raised in corpo towers. However, she now runs with Maelstrom’s chrome-obsessed violence.
The official site also says these lives tangle around family, obsession, and legacy. Still, Netflix is selling the season as standalone. You do not need the first show’s ending to start.
TRIGGER returns with a new director
CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER are making the series together again. The official site names Kai Ikarashi as director and Kanno Ichigo as lead character designer. Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka are back on the story. Last year, CD PROJEKT RED said Hiroyuki Imaishi passed the torch to Ikarashi for his directorial debut.
“David’s story might be over, but there’s plenty more to discover in Night City,” Sztybor said when the studio first announced the project. He also called the new chronicle unlike what the team had done before.
CD PROJEKT RED is also stretching The Witcher 3 with a 2027 expansion. Netflix, meanwhile, has kept feeding its animation slate, including the Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 trailer drop earlier this year.
The first Edgerunners run helped revive interest in Cyberpunk 2077. This time, the studio is promising a rawer, more brutal take. As a result, October 20 is the first hard date after a year of coming-soon teasers. Viewers can add the title on Netflix now, and the official Cyberpunk site hosts character pages beside the same teaser.
