VW ID. Buzz 2027 is back on the U.S. roadmap, and Volkswagen is giving the electric bus a trim that understands the assignment. The new Tourer 4Motion adds camping-friendly gear, including a fold-out mattress, removable window blinds, front ventilation panels, and a stowable table and chairs.

Volkswagen says the 2027 lineup will also include a Pro S 4Motion trim, while the base Pro S rear-wheel-drive model remains in the family. The Tourer package is inspired by the Good Night Package offered in Europe, which is exactly the kind of practical lifestyle kit many buyers expected when the modern bus first arrived.

The Tourer leans into van life

The most useful new feature may be Overnight Mode. It adjusts vehicle behavior for longer stops and camping-style use, with an eye toward preserving electricity while people sleep or hang out in the cabin. That matters because the ID. Buzz has always sold a dream bigger than a normal family EV.

Volkswagen is also adding one-pedal driving, updated ID.S 6 software and a redesigned navigation screen. The company says the refreshed interface should respond faster and make vehicle settings easier to reach. New models will also get a one-year trial of In-Vehicle Premium for apps such as YouTube and Spotify.

NACS finally joins the bus

The 2027 model gets a native NACS port, which should make charging less awkward for U.S. owners as more automakers move toward the Tesla-style connector. The Pro S 4Motion also gains a retractable tow hitch, captain’s chairs, smart-glass roof, and 20-inch dark graphite wheels.

Volkswagen is simplifying paint choices too. The new lineup moves to two-tone combinations only, including Candy White over Cherry Red. That sounds small, but it fits the personality of the van better than the single-color versions that confused some early buyers.

The missing pieces are still price and range. Volkswagen has not said whether the 2027 ID. Buzz will get cheaper or travel farther on a charge. Those two details will decide whether the Tourer feels like a smart camper EV or just a very charming splurge. For more EV coverage, see our look at Lime’s scooter business.
