Nurx started off in 2015 as an on-demand birth control delivery service, fast forward to 2016, the company just included a drug that reduces the chances of HIV infection to their on-demand catalogue. The drug called Truvada has been proved by the National Institutes of Health to reduce the risk of contracting HIV by 99 percent. Just like most HIV drugs, most people hesitate to request a prescription for fear of being judged. Nurx promises to make it easier to get the drug to people at high risk of being infected.
Those in need of Truvada don’t even need to get a prescription to get Nurx deliver the drug to them. Steps to follow requires anyone who wants to try out Truvada to create an account on the web-based app, fill out a health profile and answers questions to determine their eligibility for the drug. Finally, a lab test for HIV status and renal function will be required before Nurx can deliver Truvada to their doorstep. Nurx’s door delivery service is currently available only to folks in San Francisco, Nurx aims to bring its service to more states in the coming months.
