Marvel has posted the VisionQuest official trailer. In its D23 recap, Marvel says Paul Bettany and James Spader unveiled the first look on stage with Kevin Feige. Also, the same clip is now on the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel. Meanwhile, the series starts October 14, only on Disney+.
Vision is hiding, then Ultron talks back
Marvel’s official synopsis says Vision has been rebooted and has escaped people who wanted to weaponize him. Then he goes into hiding and looks for new meaning. Specifically, he consults the AI personas still inside his programming. Marvel names Friday, Edith, Jarvis, and Ultron.
That discreet life ends after a bounty hits his head. Marvel says Vision then runs with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As a result, he has to confront his own nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and figure out the boy if he wants to survive.
On stage, Bettany framed that as the next question. “What, or perhaps who, is he?” he asked. Then he added that the person you most want beside you during an existential crisis is Ultron. Spader fired back that he cannot believe it took them so long. Bettany then reminded him that Ultron was most interested in wiping humanity out.
The new poster puts Ultron behind the chair
Besides the trailer, Marvel also shared the official VisionQuest poster. Vision sits in a yellow chair with a newspaper titled Vision Today. Ultron stands behind him, one hand on Vision’s shoulder. The lockup still credits WandaVision and Agatha All Along, and it dates the Disney+ debut as October 14.
Marvel also posted an official photo of Spader, Bettany, and Feige on the D23 stage. Bettany told the crowd Vision has been an Avenger, a father, and a partner to Wanda. He also joked that dying several times makes longterm financial planning difficult. Then he said that in the Marvel Universe, no one is ever really dead unless Feige says so.
October 14 is the Disney+ date
Marvel calls VisionQuest the close of a trilogy that started with WandaVision in 2021 and Agatha All Along in 2024. Terry Matalas is the showrunner. Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, and Matalas direct. Also, the official cast list names Bettany, Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, and Todd Stashwick. T’Nia Miller, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, and James D’Arcy are on that list too.
This drop sits next to the rest of Marvel’s D23 weekend. The studio also posted the Avengers: Doomsday Special Look the same night. Meanwhile, Disney used the same event to greenlight a Kingdom Hearts anime for Disney+ and Disney Channel. VisionQuest is the TV piece of that slate.
Until October 14, this trailer is the official first look. It is not a recap of WandaVision, and it does not name every new role. Still, Marvel has now put Bettany’s rebuilt Vision and Spader’s Ultron on its own channel.
