Gemini Notebook is coming preinstalled on Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8. Google detailed the foldable AI package at Galaxy Unpacked in London. Samsung’s newsroom confirms the same agentic tools on the devices.
The pitch is simple. Gemini Intelligence should take more “life admin” off your plate. Meanwhile, Gemini Notebook turns research into slide decks, quizzes, videos, or podcasts on the big foldable canvas.
Task automation expands beyond a handful of apps
Google first shipped task automation in beta in February. Early demos covered chores such as ordering a rideshare or takeout. At Unpacked, support expands from a few apps to more than 40 popular services. In addition, Gemini can help with shopping, dinner reservations, travel bookings, and event tickets.
On Galaxy Z Flip8, users can long-press the power button to reach that help from the FlexWindow. Gemini can also read complex images and on-screen content as prompts. For example, a shopping list or inspiration photo can start a job. Google says you can watch step-by-step progress, switch apps, or let the task run in the background. You can still step in before final confirmation.
Gemini Notebook on the foldable display
Gemini Notebook, formerly NotebookLM, is the deep research workspace now baked into the new Z series. Google says you can drag photos, documents, whiteboard images, and voice recordings into a side-by-side layout on the Fold8 series main display. Chat can answer questions about your sources. Then it can spin those notes into slides, videos, flash cards, quizzes, or a podcast.
Samsung also frames Gemini Notebook as a persistent project hub. Notes, images, recordings, files, and documents live in one place. Split view drag-and-drop can build audio overviews, infographics, reports, and meeting recaps. Some higher-end outputs sit behind paid Gemini access. Therefore, every Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 includes a six-month trial of Google AI Pro. Samsung pegs that trial at the value of a $19.99 monthly plan and notes 5 TB of cloud storage in its U.S. announcement.
Watches, glasses, and easier iPhone switches
Google’s Unpacked package is not limited to phones. On Galaxy Watch 9, raising your wrist can activate Gemini without a wake word. Google also showed two more frames for intelligent eyewear with Samsung, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker. That line targets a fall launch. Compatible Wear OS watches should add gesture control for those glasses.
Separately, Android 17 is adding a native iPhone migration path that skips a separate transfer app. Google says it can move photos, videos, contacts, messages, and calendars. It can also move Google Accounts, passwords, Wi-Fi credentials, and eSIM data. The tool is already rolling to select Pixels. It will ship on the new Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 series first. Samsung opened U.S. pre-orders on July 22, 2026, with general availability on August 7. The Fold8 Ultra starts at $2,099.99. The standard Fold8 starts at $1,899.99. Flip8 starts at $1,199.99. Storage options reach 1 TB on the Fold models and 512 GB on Flip8. Trade-in savings of up to $1,200 are on offer for eligible devices during pre-order on Samsung.com.
