AirPlay 2 Now Now On Select Sonos Speakers

The Software update is now available for select Sonos speakers.

Thanks to a new software update, Sonos is bringing AirPlay 2 to a bunch of its speakers. This means that any app on your iOS devices can be streamed to your Sonos speaker. The AirPlay 2 feature will work on the new Sonos Beam, Sonos One, Playbase and the second generation Play:5. If you happen to own one of the older Sonos speakers, grouping them with one of the compatible speakers will give you the AirPlay 2 functionality. Since Siri is deeply integrated into AirPlay 2, users will now be able to ask the digital assistant to play music on specific speakers or rooms. The AirPlay 2 feature will work hand in glove with Amazon’s digital assistant to give you a hassle-free listening experience,  “After you’ve started the music with Siri, you can let Alexa adjust the volume or skip to the next song via your Sonos One, Beam, or any Alexa-enabled Sonos device (set up through the Sonos skill on your Echo device).”
