NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani launched the Mamdani Twitch show on May 21, 2026. The live streaming program is called “Talk with the People,” and it premiered at 4 PM ET on the official nyc_mayor Twitch channel.
The show name echoes former Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia’s WNYC radio program, which ran from 1941 to 1945 under nearly the same title. LaGuardia used broadcast radio to speak directly with New Yorkers during wartime. President Roosevelt’s fireside chats followed a similar spirit. Mamdani is bringing both traditions into the streaming era.
The show is native to Twitch but also simulcasts live across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, and Bluesky. Each episode features the mayor taking questions directly from the live chat — no press filters, no prepared answers.
What the Mamdani Twitch Show Will Cover
Residents submit questions in real time through the Twitch chat. Mamdani described the show’s mission plainly: “Life in our city does not need to be defined by hardship.” The format gives New Yorkers direct access to the mayor on topics from housing to transit to public safety.
The platform choice carries a subtle irony. Mamdani has been an outspoken critic of Amazon. But Twitch is owned by Amazon. Still, the calculus is practical: Twitch reaches younger audiences who skip traditional news. Those are exactly the voters Mamdani is trying to reach.
How to Watch
New episodes will air regularly on the nyc_mayor Twitch channel. Replays will also appear across the mayor’s social media platforms after each episode.
