Google is giving eligible US college students one year of Google AI Pro at no extra cost. The company posted the offer in its Gemini blog on August 19. Therefore this is a back-to-school promo, not a new model. Engadget only surfaced the same Google note.

What the US year includes

Google said it is offering one year of Google AI Pro for free. The US plan lists 4x higher Gemini limits than a non-AI account. It also lists Gemini Spark, Gemini inside Gmail and Docs, 5 TB of storage, and Google Health Premium. Meanwhile students outside the US, in more than 140 markets, get one year of Google AI Plus instead. That Plus year lists Gemini Omni, 2x higher limits, and 400 GB of storage. Canada, Hong Kong, Macau, Albania, Bolivia, and Tunisia sit outside that Plus list.

Auto-renew and the rest of the world

Google values the US Pro plan at 19 dollars and 99 cents a month. Plus bills 4 dollars and 99 cents a month, or a local equivalent, after the year. The company also lists a Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium bundle at up to 70 percent off. A payment method must sit on the account. Google says the Pro year auto-bills after the trial unless the student cancels. The same auto-bill applies to Plus. The redemption window runs through December 31, 2026. SheerID student checks apply to the YouTube bundle, and school-issued accounts are out.

Google also opened a student hub in the Gemini app. The hub can start study notebooks, flashcards, and quizzes. Study notebooks can later pull exam dates into Calendar with permission.

Interactive 3D visuals and Deep Research inside Gemini Live are rolling out to the wider Gemini app, not only this promo. TMM already covered Gemini Spark browsing inside Chrome. The same agent stack also sits in the Gemini 3.7 Flash Spark update.
