Samsung Galaxy Card is the company’s first credit card, according to the official Samsung Newsroom announcement. Barclays US Consumer Bank issues the card on Visa’s network. General U.S. applications begin July 22, 2026.
Specifically, Samsung is tying its strongest rewards to its own stores and mobile wallet. The launch arrives alongside Samsung’s July 22 Galaxy Unpacked event. However, the card is a separate financial product with its own terms and approval process.
How the Samsung Galaxy Card rewards work
First, eligible purchases made directly with Samsung earn 5% cash rewards. Samsung lists Samsung.com, Experience Stores, the Shop App, Galaxy Store, Care+, Secure Wi-Fi, Smart TV Store, and SmartThings Videos as eligible channels.
Meanwhile, purchases made through Samsung Wallet earn 3% cash rewards. Eligible streaming subscriptions, including Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify, earn 2%. All other purchases earn 1%.
Additionally, new cardholders can earn $200 in bonus cash rewards after spending $2,000 during the first 90 days. The card also includes 20% off Samsung VIP Advantage. Purchases or renewals of that membership can earn 5% cash rewards.
Still, reward percentages do not tell the whole story. Interest charges can outweigh cash rewards when a balance remains unpaid. Therefore, shoppers should compare the full Barclays terms with their usual spending rather than treating the bonus as free money.

Samsung Wallet sits at the center
Samsung offers the card as both a virtual card and a premium metal card. The physical version carries a black Samsung logo. Moreover, Samsung Wallet can store it beside compatible payment cards, IDs, passes, and digital keys.
In fact, the 3% wallet category makes this more than a store card. It gives Samsung another reason to keep Galaxy owners inside its payment ecosystem. That strategy echoes a wider push toward device-based payments, including products such as the Cash App Wand NFC accessory.
However, Samsung Wallet requires a compatible phone running Android 9.0 or later and a Samsung account. Card compatibility also depends on participating banks. Samsung says its Knox platform provides on-device security for the wallet experience.
What remains to check
The Samsung announcement highlights rewards, partners, and launch timing. Still, consumers need the complete cardholder agreement for rates, fees, reward redemption rules, and eligibility details. Those terms can change the value calculation.
Meanwhile, Barclays brings the banking infrastructure, while Visa supplies the payment network. Samsung supplies the brand, retail channels, and wallet integration. Consequently, the Galaxy Card looks designed for existing Samsung customers more than general cash-back shoppers.
Ultimately, the 5% Samsung category is the headline benefit. The 3% Samsung Wallet category may matter more day to day. Yet the strongest return depends on where a cardholder already spends money and whether balances are paid without interest.
