Google is known for changing their Maps navigation icon for special occasions. As of today, Google Maps is rolling out a small update for iOS users that lets users change the old blue arrow navigation icon with a 3D blocky car icon. Users have the option to choose one of the three cars (sedan, truck or SUV) that most represents your vehicle.
The update is purely cosmetic as the cars don’t bring any new features. In order to get the new icon, you’ll have to input your directions on Maps and tap the blue arrow icon to bring up the new car option. At time post, the new 3D car icons are only available on the iOS version of Maps, Android users will have to do some waiting before the update hits their phones.
