Have you ever wanted to meet the President of the United States in person but couldn’t? Other than the obvious reasons why you can’t now the White House has now officially welcomed a first time ever, telepresence robot to let Alice Wong (the founder of Disability Visibility Project) celebrate and greet with the POTUS and his VP Joe Biden. Alice could talk and hear responses clearly from President Obama if she saw him in person. Although it can’t replace a face to face meeting, it’s the second best thing yet. Hopefully other government officials and future Presidents use this type of tech to connect with the public directly (like speaking to elementary or middle school students) without having to plan another trip across the nation.
My day is complete. Got a chance to say hello to both @POTUS @BarackObama & @VP @JoeBiden while celebrating #ADA25 pic.twitter.com/vXc9MlIaoZ
