Microsoft just had a change of heart regarding its policies on the Xbox One used games, and the required once-per-24-hour online check-in. Contrary to what was announced earlier this month at E3, in a recent blog post on the Xbox One official site, Microsoft confirmed that, Xbox One users will not require an internet connection to play offline games or need to check in every 24 hours. Now, users will only be required to use the internet when initially setting up the console. In the blog post, Don Mattrick, President, Interactive Entertainment Business took to its Xbox blog to announce the changes. He further stated that:

“An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.”

He also confirmed that Xbox One games will be region-free, the disc-based games will have to be kept in the disc tray rather than being played digitally. He also thanked users for their feedback and out cry that brought about the recent change of policy. The moral of this story is, never mess with the feelings of all gamers world-wide, because we all know how to make kick-ass GIFs.
