Amazon fans know that Septemeber is the month to expect some hardware refresh from the company… this year is kinda different, the only thing new to the already existing hardware is from the software department. With the Amazon assistant now on the company’s tablet, users can use Alexa to launch apps, play media and have their news delivered to them.

Amazon’s Alexa support will also make it to previous tablets (the basic Fire tablet, HD 8 and the HD 10) through an update in the “coming months,” so don’t be in a hurry to let go of your old tablet. If you are still bent on buying the newer HD 8, you will a slightly better tablet that the old version. The new HD 8 comes with more RAM (1.5 GB), more built-in expandable storage (16GB with a 32GB option) and a longer 12-hour battery life. Some things still remain the same like the 1,280 x 800 display and 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The new Amazon Fire HD 8 will go on sale starting September 21st for $90/£90, with pre-orders opening up today.
