Sony Is Raising Short-Term PlayStation Plus Prices

The one-month and three-month tiers are getting more expensive in select regions on May 21.

PlayStation Plus prices are going up for shorter memberships. Sony said in an official PlayStation post that one-month and three-month Essential, Extra and Premium or Deluxe plans will increase in select regions starting May 21, 2026.

The yearly plans are not changing in that announcement. That makes the move feel aimed at people who dip in and out of PS Plus instead of committing to a full year.

Short-Term Players Pay More

Sony did not list every regional price in the post. It also said current subscribers will mostly keep their existing price unless they change plan length, upgrade tier or let the membership lapse. Turkey and India are exceptions, according to Sony.

This is the subscription squeeze console players know too well. Microsoft has adjusted Game Pass repeatedly, and Sony has already moved PS Plus pricing in the past. Shorter plans are easier to stomach in the moment, but they are also where companies can push users toward annual billing.

If you only subscribe when a big multiplayer release lands, this is the part to watch. The price change will make quick one-month returns less painless. We have seen a similar subscription reshuffle in gaming perks, including Discord Nitro adding a smaller Xbox Game Pass benefit.

The clean move is to check your renewal date before May 21. If you already know you will use PS Plus all year, Sony is making the annual plan look like the least annoying option.

The change also lands while console subscriptions are already under pressure from day-one game debates, rotating catalogs and multiplayer access fees. Players who only need PS Plus for a single release may now have to decide whether a short membership still makes sense or whether the annual option is the cleaner value.

That makes the timing worth checking before your next renewal.
