HP just launched the new Omen X 2S today. The laptop comes with an additional screen above the keyboard which the company calls “world’s first dual-screen design,”. The primary 15-inch panel is a 1080p, 144Hz G-Sync IPS (or optionally, a 240Hz G-Sync or 4K) model. While the secondary 6-inch is a 1080p display. The additional screen lets you watch streaming videos, play music, monitor system performance, chat on your favorite platform or even keep an eye on CPU and GPU performance. The real-time screen mirroring feature lets you cut and magnify parts of the main display (like maps).
As for the specs of the Omen X 2S, the device comes with a 9th Gen Intel Core i9 8-core processor (with 5 GHz overclocking) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU, 32GB of RAM and optional Intel Optane memory storage. Also featured in the laptop is HP’s special 5-way airflow cooling system (two inlets at the bottom plus three outlets on the sides). The CPU’s come pre-applied with Thermal Grizzly’s “liquid metal” CPU thermal paste which is way better with heat dissipation and overall performance than the regular silicon grease. According to HP, their choice of materials can help boost the performance of the laptop by 28 percent, we’ll have to get our hands on one to confirm this. The device is 22mm thin and it comes in a full metal chassis. There is no info from the company about the weight or battery life just yet. The Omen X 2S will be available in June starting at $2,099.99.
