Instagram’s latest update comes with a couple of new features, the most interesting feature is portrait mode feature called “Focus”. This means that you no longer need dual cameras or the likes of a Pixel 2 to get those DSLR-like background blur in your pictures. The new Focus mode on the Instagram app will help achieve the portrait mode effect by softening the background the moment it detects a face in the scene “As soon as there’s someone in the shot, you’ll notice the person stays in focus while the background softly blurs,”. The Focus feature is available on the iPhone 6S and newer Apple devices, as well as “select” Android handsets. The Focus feature is next to “Superzoom” under the record button.

It’s also worth mentioning that iOS users are getting a @mention sticker option in Stories. This update is a new way to mention other users in Stories with a sticker. There’s no timeframe as to when Android users will be getting this, my best bet is soon.
