The Zelda anniversary Direct is now available to watch on Nintendo of America’s official YouTube channel. Nintendo’s September 8 broadcast celebrates 40 years of the series. It also brings a concrete date for Ocarina of Time on Switch 2: November 5, 2026.

Ocarina of Time arrives November 5
Nintendo’s updated game page lists the Switch 2 remake for November 5. It describes new visuals, a revised soundtrack and changes to how Link moves through Hyrule. For example, players can dash and jump with a button. The remake also adds new dialogue and fully voiced cutscenes.
There are practical navigation changes, too. The Threads of Time feature tracks objectives and recaps the story. In addition, motion aiming supports tools such as the bow and slingshot. Nintendo also says players can hum ocarina melodies into the Switch 2 microphone.
However, these are Nintendo’s announced features, not findings from our own playtest. The series has revisited older adventures before, including the Majora’s Mask remake for 3DS. This time, the platform is specifically Switch 2.
The film and the next Nintendo Direct
Beyond games, Nintendo’s Zelda film page lists a cinema release of April 30, 2027. That gives the anniversary’s screen ambitions a date, rather than a vague promise of expansion. Nintendo’s broader film push also includes The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s move to Peacock.
Meanwhile, a separate Nintendo Direct on September 9 will cover Switch 2 games coming this winter. Nintendo lists a roughly 45-minute show at 16:00 South Africa time, equivalent to 10 a.m. EDT and 7 a.m. PDT. So the Zelda replay and tomorrow’s wider games presentation are two different broadcasts.
