Microsoft is giving Xbox collectors a throwback hardware drop for the brand’s 25th anniversary. In an Xbox Wire post, the company announced the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition. It is a 1TB Xbox Series X with a translucent OG Green shell inspired by the original Xbox.

The limited-edition console will be sold with a matching controller in select markets this November. Microsoft has not announced pricing yet. It also has not shared preorder timing, so this is still a reveal rather than a buy-now launch.

What makes the Xbox Series X25 different

The Xbox Series X25 is not a new generation or a performance upgrade. Xbox Wire says it has the power and performance of the current Xbox Series X, including 1TB of storage. The anniversary shell is the main change.

Its design includes a translucent green case and an Xbox 25th Anniversary logo on the front. The “X” button also lights up green. That detail is meant to nod back to the original Xbox startup.

Microsoft is also releasing the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition. It keeps the translucent OG Green theme and brings back the original ABXY colors. Its bumpers reference the black and white buttons on the original Duke controller.

The back case and battery door are transparent, revealing a classic Xbox logo inside. That gives controller buyers a visible anniversary detail even if they skip the console bundle.

Controller buyers get a separate option

The full console-and-controller collection is planned for November. Microsoft says the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition will also be sold separately. That matters for players who want the anniversary look without buying another console.

The announcement landed during Xbox’s showcase season. It follows Tech My Money’s guide on how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. For now, the main takeaway is simple: this is collector-focused Xbox hardware, and official pricing is still pending.

Microsoft says the collection is part of its wider push to celebrate 25 years of Xbox. If the translucent shell hits the same nostalgia nerve as the original console, the limited-edition bundle may move quickly once preorders open.
