Welcome the next level of gesture control, the MYO is wristband with ground breaking technology is from Thalmic Labs in Ontario. The MYO is able to measure electrical activity in your muscles in a seamless fashion allowing you to interact with almost any device. Without any external sensors, MYO connects via Bluetooth, can connect to mobile devices, and compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. The MYO will be functional straight out of the box, and work with things you already have – “like your Mac or Windows PC. You can control presentations, video, content, games, browse the web, create music, edit videos, and so much more.”
What is known about the specification of the MYP is that it uses “Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy to communicate with the devices it is paired with. It features on-board, rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries, and an ARM processor. The MYO is outfitted with Thalmic’s proprietary muscle activity sensors. It also features a 6-axis inertial measurement unit.” The wristband will be shipping late 2013 for the price of $149. For developers who would like to toy around with this, the companies FAQ page states that they “We will be launching a developer site with further information on APIs and integration soon.
