JBL Live 4 earbuds are here, and the tiny screen on the case is still the headline feature.

JBL announced the Live 4 series with three wearing styles: Buds, Beam, and Flex. All three get Hi-Res Audio, improved active noise cancellation, and JBL Smart OS 3.0 for the company’s Smart Charging Case.

The case now has a larger screen and a redesigned interface. JBL says you can swipe through controls to check notifications, skip songs, change EQ settings, and pin favorite features to the home screen. You can even add background themes or a favorite picture. The idea is simple: do more without pulling out your phone.

Three fits, one smarter case

The Live Buds 4 use the more traditional earbud shape. Live Beam 4 uses a stem design with silicone tips for a sealed in-ear fit. Live Flex 4 also uses a stem, but it sits more openly in the outer ear for people who dislike sealed tips.

JBL says the new high-fidelity drivers are tuned for deeper bass and clearer sound. The ANC also gets new algorithms designed to reduce more outside noise. For calls, JBL is using 6-Mic Perfect Call 2.0, a wind-proof design, and an AI-trained algorithm to cut down background noise from things like traffic and fans.

All three models are available from May 12, 2026. JBL lists UK pricing at 179.99 pounds. Beam and Flex come in black, blue, green, silver, orange, purple, and sand. Buds come in black, blue, silver, and sand.

The smart case is still a little extra, but that is what makes it interesting. Earbuds are getting harder to separate on sound alone, especially in the crowded premium midrange. A case that controls more of the experience gives JBL a clear hook.
