Some weeks back, Instagram confirmed that Ads would soon be popping up in users timelines. The Facebook owned company is showing an example of what the said “sponsored posts” will look like in the coming week. In a recent blog post on Instagram’s site, they showed off the ad, which could be mistaken for an actual post. Instagram further explained that “You’ll know a photo or video is an advertisement when you see the “Sponsored” label where the time stamp normally would be. Tap this label to learn more about how advertising works on Instagram.”
The ads will be engaging in the sense that, you can hide ads that don’t interest you by tapping “…” below it to hide it and provide feedback about what you didn’t like. For those who’re worried about what this means to their private photos, Instagram went on to clarify that, “As always, you own your own photos and videos. The introduction of advertising won’t change this.”
