JBL just announced the JBL PartyBox Ultimate 2, and it is the loudest PartyBox the company has shipped. The speaker delivers 1,500 watts of JBL Legendary Sound, which JBL says is more than 36 percent above the previous Ultimate. It is built for large indoor and outdoor events, not a backyard battery picnic.

HARMAN consumer audio president Carsten Olesen called it a true flagship. “Pulling on all our experience in professional and portable audio, PartyBox Ultimate 2 is a true flagship of our PartyBox range as it represents the very best of JBL,” he said. The company pairs that claim with a new driver stack, AI Sound Boost, a touchscreen volume dial, and a light show that now throws patterns onto the floor.

What 1,500 watts actually adds

The last PartyBox Ultimate ran 1,100 watts. This one jumps to 1,500 watts with dual 10-inch woofers, dual 5-inch midrange drivers, dual bass ports, and dual pro-grade PEN tweeters with horns. JBL says those horns match hardware in its professional systems. The company promises a wider soundstage, deeper bass, and clearer vocals when the volume goes up.

AI Sound Boost then watches the mix in real time. JBL says the system keeps detail and clarity with low distortion even when you push the speaker to the limit. That is a software claim, however, not a third-party lab result. Treat it as the company’s pitch until someone measures it.

The cabinet is still a mains-powered tower with larger wheels and a handle. JBL also rates it IPX4 splashproof and says it uses recycled materials. Splashproof is not waterproof. The UK newsroom does not publish a weight or a US dollar price. It does say the speaker is meant to roll with the party rather than live on a flight cart.

The light show now hits the floor

JBL rebuilt the PartyBox lightshow around three ideas. Ripple-wave effects run across the full front panel. Multilayer lighting adds depth. A floor projection then throws the show into the room. That is a bigger visual brief than a ring of LEDs on the grille. It also lines up with the same lighting push JBL is making on the Pulse 6.

Meanwhile, the top panel is new. The volume dial doubles as a touchscreen, which JBL says is a first for PartyBox. You can jump into music, lighting, and settings, then check the current song and which lightshow is running without pulling out a phone. The JBL One app still handles the deeper lighting and feature controls.

Karaoke, DJ inputs, and the October 6 price

EasySing AI Vocal Removal can strip a vocal from a track so the speaker turns a playlist into karaoke. It also works with JBL EasySing mics. The same top panel holds a set of party games, so karaoke is not the only gimmick on the dial. An optical input covers TV karaoke, while an XLR line-in is there for DJ decks. USB-C lossless playback sits beside those wired ports.

Wireless options are broader than Bluetooth alone. JBL lists Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Qobuz Connect. Auracast can link other compatible JBL speakers, including the kind of Wi-Fi multi-room stack JBL is also chasing with Cove. Then the company still sells this as a party box, not a living-room hi-fi.

JBL says the PartyBox Ultimate 2 goes on sale from October 6, 2026 on JBL.com and at selected retailers. The advised retail price in the UK and Europe newsroom is 1,399.99 pounds / 1,599.99 euros. The US shop page blocked a direct fetch, so this draft does not invent a dollar tag. JBL Support’s setup film still walks through the power cable, first-boot language screen, Wi-Fi pairing, Auracast, and EasySing. Watch that clip if you want the official button-by-button path before you roll 1,500 watts into a room.
