Apple Sports expansion is arriving before the World Cup. Apple says its free iPhone sports app is now available in more than 90 new countries and regions.

That brings Apple Sports to more than 100 countries and regions overall. The timing is smart. Global soccer is about to pull in casual fans, diehards and everyone checking scores between meetings.

Apple is also adding new widgets for the Home Screen and Lock Screen. That should make scores easier to check without opening the app every few minutes.

More countries, more leagues

The Apple Sports expansion covers a wide sports mix. Apple lists soccer competitions such as the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, MLS, NWSL, Liga MX and the Champions League.

The app also supports major North American leagues. That includes the NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLB, college football and college basketball.

Apple Sports is still built as a fast scoreboard. It is not trying to replace a full sports news app. It is meant for scores, schedules, standings, betting odds where available and quick game context.

The wider rollout also helps Apple make the app feel less US-first. Sports fandom is global, and score apps are only useful when they cover the leagues and countries people actually follow. More markets make Apple Sports easier to recommend.

Why this matters for iPhone users

The Apple Sports expansion makes the app more useful outside its early launch markets. That is especially important for soccer, where fans often follow clubs and tournaments across borders.

The new widgets may be the most useful part. Sports scores belong in glanceable places. A Lock Screen score check is faster than opening an app, searching for a match and waiting for a refresh.

Tech My Money has been tracking Apple’s app and device moves closely, including updates like Blackmagic Camera Apple Watch controls. This one is simpler, but it could reach a much bigger group of everyday iPhone users.
