The JBL Pulse 6 is here, and it turns up both the volume and the lights. JBL announced the all-new speaker on August 26 in a press release from HARMAN, its parent company. The brand calls it its most expressive Pulse yet.
The speaker is now available to order on JBL.com and at selected retailers. Shipping begins September 6, 2026, for $329.95.
Bigger sound for bigger moments
The audio update centers on AI Sound Boost. Specifically, the system analyzes music in real time to maximize acoustic performance with less distortion. An upgraded acoustic design delivers more natural, balanced sound and deeper bass. As a result, JBL promises an immersive 360-degree listening experience.
Furthermore, the rest of the spec sheet is solid for a party speaker. You get Bluetooth 6.0, lossless audio over USB-C, and up to 12 hours of battery life. The speaker is also IP68 waterproof and dustproof. In addition, JBL says the handle uses recycled materials, including 93% recycled metal.
The lightshow gets a choreographer
The new design integrates lights more fully than before. Moreover, the illuminated handle is part of the light show itself. Meanwhile, JBL added choreographed lighting effects for parties and softer ambient modes for slower evenings.
“Integrated lights in portable speakers have been increasingly trending, but this isn’t a new concept for JBL,” said Carsten Olesen, President of Consumer Audio at HARMAN. “The 360-degree customizable lightshow has been integral to Pulse’s design since it first launched in 2013.” He added that JBL now wants sound and lighting to work together across its whole lineup.
Overall, the speaker ships with 16 light themes. Ten of them are ambient modes, including Universe, Campfire, Aurora, and Blossom. In contrast, six are party modes, such as Neon, Bounce, and Freeze. Two features target quieter hours. Sunset Mode dims the lights gradually over a countdown you set in the JBL One app. A quick double tap on the speaker switches it into Bedside Lamp mode with warm light.
Built to sync with the rest of your setup
First, Auracast lets you link the Pulse 6 with other compatible JBL speakers for a larger soundstage. Second, stereo pairing works between two units. Finally, sound and lighting can sync with other Pulse 6 speakers, compatible PartyBox models, and the JBL PartyLight Stick.
The JBL One app unlocks the full experience. You can switch party or ambient themes, activate Sunset Mode, pair mood-setting sounds, and customize EQ settings. Plus, karaoke works with the JBL EasySing Mic Mini. It follows a busy stretch for JBL’s audio lineup, from the Live 4 earbuds to the Supreme JBL Go 5. The Pulse 6 is the clearest sign yet that lighting has become a first-class feature in its portable speakers.
