We’ve all seen 3D printers by now, from a few machines that appeared last year to the newer, smaller models that were shown this year (at CES 2015). But to actually get your own hands on one of these beasts, you need very deep pockets, seriously deep. Well inventor Vimal Patel built his own 3D printer – sort of. He melded a hot glue gun with a powered LEGO mechanism (Technic) to squeeze out biodegradable filament at any axis. Of course it looks strange and bulky but if you watch the video below, it works! It works so well that Patel creates springs, artistic designs, a fruit basket and even a makeshift bike helmet. I’m not gonna spoil it for you watch the video below.
