Buying phones unofficially from third-party vendors or online may sometimes offer better prices, but sometimes you may be unfortunate to buy a stolen or locked phone. Apple just revealed an iCloud tool that lets you check whether your new iPhone is locked by its original owner or perhaps stolen. You’ll need the iPhone’s IMEI or serial number to check it against Apple’s system to see if the Activation Lock is active. If your check turn out lock, Apple gives you a benefit of doubt by asking you to enter the Apple ID and password that was previously associated with the phone, or contact the original owner/seller. Apple’s Activation Lock tool is accessible via iCloud, I guess this will help Apple fans who can’t afford the store prices a better option and less chances of getting duped.
