It seems like Yahoo is not done with its acquisition spree, Yahoo just added Luminate to their ever-growing list of acquired companies. Luminate is an advertising services that places ads within images, the company was founded in 2008 as Pixazza with over 10,000 publishers. The ad company’s CEO James Everingham confirmed this on the Luminate offical website,
We will be stopping all of our in-image services as of Wednesday, September 3, 2014.
All Luminate publishers, advertisers and experts will be able to login and access account information until October 1, 2014.
This clearly means that, publishers who use their service should start shopping around for an alternative. There’s no comment on how Yahoo plans to use Luminate’s crowdsourcing and image-detection technology, for sure, dedicated publishers whom have made quite some earning from it will surely miss Luminate.
