The AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE is moving beyond its China-first launch. The 12GB RDNA 4 graphics card now gives AMD another option between the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070.

AMD lists 48 compute units, 3,072 stream processors and 48 ray accelerators. The card also has 96 AI accelerators, 12GB of GDDR6 memory and a 192-bit memory bus.

Those specs matter because the card is not just a nameplate change. It gives AMD a clear 12GB desktop GPU for players who are still watching memory limits in newer games.

Where the RX 9070 GRE fits

The GRE name usually points to a region-specific or value-focused AMD part. This version looks built for gamers who want more than a mainstream card. It also avoids the price jump of higher RDNA 4 models.

AMD lists a 2,220MHz game frequency and a boost frequency up to 2,790MHz. The Radeon RX 9070 GRE also gets 48MB of Infinity Cache. Board power is rated at 220W, with a 650W power supply recommendation.

Partner cards are already appearing. Sapphire’s Pulse Radeon RX 9070 GRE lists a boost clock up to 2,920MHz. ASUS also has an ATS Radeon RX 9070 GRE OC Edition with triple fans and dual BIOS support.

Pricing is the real test

Reports around the global rollout point to a $549 target. Early marketplace listings may not match that number, so buyers should watch official partner stock before treating the launch as a deal.

The timing still helps AMD. PC gaming hardware has been crowded by AI PCs and handheld chips, including Intel’s push into Arc G-Series gaming handhelds. A wider Radeon RX 9070 GRE launch gives desktop builders another RDNA 4 card to compare.

If real prices stay near the target, this could be one of AMD’s more interesting midrange-plus cards. If markups stick, the standard RX 9070 may still be the cleaner buy.
