A report from Volkswagen stated that the company is currently recalling 5,625 Audi SQ5 vehicles that were manufactured between the dates of May 22, 2013, through April 14, 2015 (primarily 2014-2015 models). Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. has discovered that the Audi SQ5 has a built-in electric power steering assist system that shuts down in cold temperatures because of sensor errors within the Audi SQ5 steering motor. Because of this fault, the Audi SQ5 driver will need to apply extra steering effort at lower speeds, this loss of power steering assist increases the risk of an accidental vehicular crash. Volkswagen will notify 2014-2015 Audi SQ5 owners and dealers. Dealers will also update the power steering control module software at no charge to the vehicle’s owner (free).

Audi’s customer service can be reached at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 48M1.
