Bill Gates is known for taking on some tough challenges and projects since he stepped down as Microsoft CEO. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have taken on tough projects like tackling the failures of America’s education system, extreme poverty and poor health in developing countries. The ex CEO has a new project ‘Janicki Omniprocessor‘ developed by Janicki Bioenergy and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Janicki Omniprocessor is huge machine that converts human waste into clean drinking water, electricity, and ash. Bill Gates visited one of the facilities to taste the water made from human waste himself as seen in the video below.
The device works by heating sewage waste and separating solids from water vapor. The vapor is then fed through a cleaning system to produce regular old H2O. The dried solids are then used as fuel to power a generator. One of the developing nations to get the Janicki Omniprocessor is Senegal, and it’s scheduled for later this year.
