Motorola used the Snapdragon Summit to give a first look at the Motorola Signature 27, one of the first phones built around Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The company calls it the most advanced smartphone it has ever made. However, today’s reveal is only a preview, so price and a release date are still missing.
The Signature 27 is the second generation of Motorola’s ultra-premium Signature line. It also starts a new naming scheme that uses the last two digits of the coming year.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and a bigger cooler
Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 at the same event. Motorola says the chip powers on-device AI, camera processing, and gaming on the Signature 27. In addition, six antennas work together for faster downloads and cloud AI apps.
To keep that chip cool, Motorola built a system it calls ArcticMesh. It mixes a diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a redesigned 3D vapor chamber. Motorola says the setup is 40% larger than the previous generation. The phone also gets seven OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates, starting from its global launch.
A 200MP periscope and Bang & Olufsen audio
On the back, Motorola pairs a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. Meanwhile, an AI Video Enhancement Engine adjusts color tones before and during recording. Qualcomm’s image stabilization also works with 3.5-degree optical stabilization for steadier handheld video.
The Signature 27 is also Motorola’s first phone with Audio by B&O, following its new multi-year deal with Bang & Olufsen. On the software side, Google Gemini can turn prompts, photos, or clips into edited videos with Gemini Omni. It can also generate music with Lyria.
Motorola will sell two finishes. PANTONE Coal Smoke uses a woven Tactical Weave texture for grip, while PANTONE Capulet Olive has a brushed, textile-style back. Both sit in an aluminum frame with a ceramic and brushed-aluminum camera housing.
What we still don’t know about the Motorola Signature 27
Motorola only says the Signature 27 should reach markets worldwide in 2026. It has not shared a price, display size, battery capacity, or charging speeds yet. For context, Engadget reports that the first Signature phone sold for $800 to $1,200, depending on configuration. Motorola’s recent gear, like the Moto Tag 2 tracker, has leaned on value. By contrast, the Signature 27 is pitched as a full flagship.
