Google launched Gemini 3.7 Flash on Wednesday, and the first customer is Google’s own agent. Gemini Spark moves to the new model starting today, so the cloud assistant gets better tool use and steadier multi-step planning across Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar, Keep, and Tasks.
The release lands just three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash. Google credits developer feedback and algorithmic improvements, and it is pricing 3.7 Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens through December 31. That is half the original 3.6 Flash price.
Automation and document gains
The benchmarks back up the agent pitch. On AutomationBench, which measures real business workflows, 3.7 Flash scored 30.4 percent against 17 percent for 3.6 Flash. On GDP.pdf, a test of complex document handling, it reached 34 percent versus 22 percent. So the model should need fewer retries and less manual intervention.
Coding improved too. FrontierCode 1.1 Main rose to 43.6 percent from 34.4 percent, and DeepSWE v1.1 jumped to 65.3 percent from 49.0 percent. Meanwhile, WebDev Arena Elo climbed to 1588 from 1538. Google says the model plans more diligently and adapts better when it hits roadblocks.
Spark does the chores
For subscribers, the practical change is Spark. The agent already keeps working after a laptop closes, and it now consolidates files, drafts emails, and updates status documents more reliably. Through Chrome, it can also use signed-in accounts and saved passwords to compare flights or book viewings. Still, it hands control back before sensitive actions such as payments.
Spark runs for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in more than 160 countries. Ultimately, the cheaper model should make those 24/7 agents easier to scale.
A crowded agent race
The price is the sharpest elbow. Rival agents cost more, from Claude in Chrome carrying sessions to desktop to Grok’s cloud-computer teammates. Power users, however, still wait for Gemini 3.5 Pro, which missed its June rollout after a May preview at Google I/O.
