BYD Seal 06 for 2027 is a China-market family sedan that keeps the price war loud. The DM-i plug-in hybrid starts at 99,900 yuan (about $14,700). The pure-electric Seal 06 starts at 109,900 yuan (about $16,100). BYD launched the range in Shenzhen with more equipment at prices close to last year’s EV band.
That EV sticker undercuts America’s cheapest new EV by a wide margin on paper. Chevrolet lists the 2027 Bolt around $28,995 before destination. However Chinese yuan pricing is not a U.S. showroom offer. Therefore tariffs, crash rules, and branding still keep Seal 06 off American lots.
BYD Seal 06 EV: range, power, flash charge
The EV pack uses BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery on an 800-volt-class architecture. Battery sizes land near 52.9 kWh and 64.3 kWh in press coverage. CLTC range reaches up to 630 km (about 391 miles), up from 545 km on the prior generation. Single-motor peaks include 120 kW and 240 kW. The quickest setup claims 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

BYD also brings its native flash-charging platform to this sedan. The company says ultra-fast charging can basically fill the pack in about nine minutes under the right conditions. Moreover first-year flash charging is free for EV buyers. In addition, BYD counts more than 7,000 flash stations in 325 Chinese cities and aims for 20,000 by the end of 2026.
DM-i hybrid and cabin kit
DM-i trims use fifth-generation dual-mode hybrid tech. CLTC pure-electric range reaches up to 320 km. Fuel use is listed at 2.59 L/100 km when the battery is depleted. Combined range on a full tank and full charge hits 2,370 km in company figures. Meanwhile DM-i pricing runs from 99,900 yuan to 141,900 yuan. EV trims run from 109,900 yuan to 155,900 yuan across 12 versions total.
Outside, Ocean aesthetics grow the body to 4,870 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,495 mm tall on a 2,820 mm wheelbase. Inside, a 15.6-inch center screen pairs with DiLink 150 and DeepSeek-powered voice help. Higher trims can add DiSus-C adaptive damping and a larger head-up display stack described in launch coverage.
LiDAR assist at family-sedan money
This generation is the first Seal 06 family sedan in this price band to carry God’s Eye B with LiDAR. The system supports urban and highway navigation-guided driving plus all-scenario parking, according to BYD. The outgoing car used vision-only God’s Eye C. Therefore the company is pushing advanced assist down the ladder while keeping yuan stickers aggressive.
BYD says it will cover liability for accidents in smart parking and urban navigation-guided driving under stated conditions. That pitch targets buyer confidence as much as the sensor count. Still, CLTC range and assist claims are China-cycle marketing numbers, not EPA labels.
Why the price war matters
Seal series volume remains strategic for BYD even after a soft 2026 stretch. The line sold more than 518,000 units in 2025. July 2026 sales fell year-over-year in CnEVPost’s tally. Likewise rivals in the 100,000–150,000 yuan sedan slice include Geely Galaxy A7 EM and Xpeng Mona M03. For context, we also covered BYD Seal 08’s China pricing gap versus a comparable Model 3 and the sub-$10,000 Arcfox Beta T1 from BAIC.
For now, the 2027 BYD Seal 06 is a China product: roughly $16,100 for a flash-charging EV with up to 630 km CLTC range, or about $14,700 for the DM-i. American buyers still cannot walk into a Chevrolet store and order that value equation. Instead, the story is the competitive heat in China, not a surprise U.S. sticker.
