Hyundai Ioniq 3 is on sale in the UK. Hyundai has opened orders for the IONIQ 3 compact electric hatch. Importantly, every version qualifies for Band 1 of the UK government’s Electric Car Grant, which deducts £3,750 from the eligible price. Therefore the entry Advance 42kWh lands at £18,495 on the road, and the range-topping N Line Evo at £28,195.

Hyundai’s claim is limited to prelaunch UK registrations: more customers registered interest before launch than for any new Hyundai model it has introduced in the UK. “The response to IONIQ 3 has been extraordinary, with more customers registering their interest before launch than for any new Hyundai we’ve introduced in the UK,” said Ashley Andrew, president of Hyundai Motor UK. Existing reservation holders take the full £3,750 grant instead of the £1,500 saving originally offered. Cars begin arriving at Hyundai retailers in October 2026.

The hatch runs on a 400-volt architecture with two battery options. Hyundai’s UK technical release lists projected WLTP ranges for both. The 42kWh car is projected at up to 213 miles, while the 61kWh car reaches up to 308 miles. Both figures remain pending final homologation. Hyundai estimates 10 to 80 percent charging in about 29 minutes for the 42kWh battery. The 61kWh battery takes about 30 minutes on the same 350 kW public CCS charger. AC charging reaches 11 kW on both.

What buyers get for the money

Before the grant, on-the-road prices start at £22,245 for the Advance 42kWh. They climb to £31,945 for the N Line Evo. Notably, the cheapest car and the longest range describe different configurations. Therefore the £18,495 entry price does not carry the 308-mile figure. The top trim adds a 14.6-inch display, Surround View Monitor, Blind View Monitor and Memory Reverse Assist. That last feature replays the last 50 metres of driving to help drivers reverse out of tight spots.

Hyundai also fits Pleos Connect, its Android Automotive OS infotainment, here for the first time on a European Hyundai. SmartSense driver assistance comes standard. Ultimate adds Highway Driving Assist 2 plus heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

Where the announcement stops

Hyundai designed the IONIQ 3 in Europe and builds it at its Izmit plant in Turkey. CarBuzz reported on April 20, 2026 that Hyundai Motor America had told it there were no plans to offer the car in the US. UK buyers can order now through Hyundai retailers, with grant-inclusive pricing on the IONIQ 3 configurator. The 308-mile figure stays an estimate until homologation completes, so check the final spec before committing.
