Amazon has finally released its kid-friendly subscription service “Amazon FreeTime” for Android devices today (running Android 5.0 Lollipop and up). This subscription service was only available on Amazon’s Kindle and Fire devices (tablets and TVs) until now. Now parents who own Android devices can let their children watch pre-approved, child-friendly videos, movies, tv shows and read age-appropriate books without having them accidentally click on something that isn’t “safe for viewing”. A smarter alternative for parents who have Netflix and Hulu accounts for the young ones. Amazon FreeTime even has built-in parental controls for time restrictions, age limitations, and even education filters which challenge your child to read more in order to view other entertainment content (perfect during the school week). Amazon”s FreeTime team has even handpicked safe YouTube videos and websites that your child can view without you worrying.

And for those who want to know what your child has been watching without having to be beside them every second of the way, Amazon offers discussion cards so that parents can talk about the show, movie or book and ask questions without needing to take time out of their busy schedules.

Amazon FreeTimeAmazon FreeTime Unlimited service subscription offers over 10,000 books, games, apps, movies, TV shows, and 40,000 YouTube videos. All for just $2.99 a month for Amazon Prime members ($4.99 for non-Amazon Prime members), if you wish to give it a try first you can download the app from the Google Play Store (button is below) and get one month free to see what you’ll be investing in as well as be able to check out all of the features included.
