Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is Samsung’s next rugged flagship wearable, unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked in London. Samsung designed it for extreme outdoor adventures and high-performance training, while cutting thickness by 12% versus the first Ultra.
That thinner case still aims to feel tough. The company keeps a shock-resistant titanium build and pushes dust and water protection to the top of the smartwatch pile.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 dive-ready durability
Samsung rates Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at IP69K for dust and high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. It also carries a 10 ATM water rating and EN13319 certification for dive instruments. In short, Samsung markets the watch as dive-ready, not merely swim-friendly.
The company says it tested the rating in 5% salt water and chlorinated water. When you enter the water, the watch can track depth, time, and water temperature automatically. Later this year, an Ultra2 Diving app developed with Mares should add ascent and descent speed plus safe dive limits. Samsung still limits scuba use to 40 meters, so this is not a full technical-dive computer replacement.
Slimmer case, bigger battery, brighter screen
Samsung re-engineered the internals to fit more battery into less bulk. Capacity jumps to 800 mAh, a 35% increase over the previous Ultra. With Always On Display enabled, Samsung claims up to 60 hours of use. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite platform powers the watch, and Samsung ties that chip to faster performance and more accurate GPS.
The 47 mm model uses a 1.52-inch Super AMOLED panel at 498×498. Samsung calls it the first smartwatch display to hit 5,000 nits, which should help trail running and outdoor training under harsh sun. Storage lands at 64 GB with 2 GB of memory. Trail Run 2 can track elevation, climbing progress, and terrain impact for pacing on long routes.
Price, colors, and availability
U.S. pre-orders open July 22, 2026, with general availability on August 7. Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 costs $699.99. Color options include Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray. Dimensions land at 47.4 x 47.1 x 10.7 mm and about 61.5 g, depending on configuration.
Samsung also launched Galaxy Watch9 the same day for a lighter everyday health watch. That line starts at $379.99 for Bluetooth and $429.99 for LTE in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes. Overall, Ultra 2 tries to answer the usual outdoor-watch contradiction: more battery and tougher seals without more bulk. Real-world battery claims and the later Diving app will decide whether the $700 ask feels earned after the first long trail weekend or open-water session.
