Electronic cigarettes have finally settled into many of our everyday habits lists. Not only were they apparently safer than your traditionalistic cigarettes (no direct consumption of tar or other tobacco elements) but seemed much cooler to smoke in public because it’s mostly water vapor. But newly released research details, expose that many of these flavored e-cigarettes (or e-cigs) contain a flavoring chemical called “diacetyl”. This flavoring agent has the ability to produce a disease labeled as “popcorn lung”. Over 75% of flavored e-cigarettes can cause popcorn lung if smoked over long periods of time. It’s also been reported that many of these flavors had other chemicals like 2,3-pentanedione, acetoin and even formaldehyde (which can be very dangerous).

Even though smoking has constantly been reported as dangerous to your general health, reports like these and others should, at least, open your eyes to what’s actually being placed inside of the E-cigarettes (and conventional cigarettes) to improve the flavors. If you are going to continue to smoke, check the ingredients lists and do your own research so that you can smoke your E-cigarettes with confidence, otherwise you might want to avoid smoking altogether, especially because they can be deadly.
