Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Treyarch just unveiled the latest teaser trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and in the video, they depict a world’s future that is destroyed by the onslaught of technologically enhanced (and weaponized) humans. You’ll see various street riots, news reports and even informers that claims that the government is turning humans into death machines.

Call of Duty Black Ops games often take place in a futuristic world where combat is advanced and so are the enemies. But this version of Black Ops hints of a new transhumanist angle, possibly influenced by Deus Ex. Even Deus Ex responded to the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 trailer with a confused cat photo on twitter. Deus Ex executive art director Jonathan Jacques-Belletete jokingly welcomed Treyarch to the bandwagon with another tweet.

“We lied guyz. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided actually takes place on the Eastern Front during World War 2. We felt inspired.”
