Microsoft’s event today wasn’t only focused on the Windows 10 or Spartan Browser, the company unveiled their own take on augmented reality.

This is the next generation of computing… This is the next PC

The Microsoft HoloLens — a holographic headset that allows interaction between the physical and digital worlds, “it lets you see holograms around you.” The HoloLens headset comes with a see-through lens and provides the wearer with spatial sound to keep you alert with things happening behind you in the augmented reality world.

On the processing side of things, the Microsoft HoloLense comes with a dedicated Holographic Processing Unit (HPU) to power the virtual reality headset. Microsoft introduced the HoloLens in a pair of videos, to show you the powers and features of their official headset. You can watch both videos here to see Microsoft’s futuristic headset in action. Microsoft didn’t mention when we could get our hands on one, I think it should be available “in the Windows 10 time frame.” Move over Oculus Rift, there’s a new kid on the block.
