One of the hottest technology items this year is the streaming media stick, which plugs into the HDMI port of your television or monitor and offers access to tons of streaming media from numerous content providers. While Roku introduced a sophisticated streaming media stick in March, and Amazon’s new Fire TV stick joined the fray a few months ago, the king of the streaming sticks remains Google’s Chromecast.
The Chromecast retails for a modest price already, $35, so a good Black Friday deal would make it the ultimate stocking stuffer. Through it, you can stream content from services such as Hulu Plus and HBO Go, and play games through compatible mobile and web apps.
Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Costco, RadioShack and Staples have all announced Black Friday Deals on the Google Chromecast, and we’ve sorted them out for you to let you know which of those outlets offers the absolute rock bottom price for Black Friday.
First of all, some of the stores are specifying in their ad that you get 2 months of Hulu Plus free when you purchase a Chromecast from them. This fortunately is the case no matter where you purchase the Chromecast, as the offer is from Google, not the stores themselves. So with the playing field even on what you receive, the only issue is price.
Costco is offering members a $10 Google Play card with purchase of a Chromecast at its regular $34.99 price tag, but Walmart and Target are all offering the Chromecast at a straight up $32 cost, so unless you were going to buy a Google Play Card anyway, you’re better off with one of those retailers.
Of course the deals will continue to be announced throughout the holiday season, and as always we’ll be here to sort through them and help you get the best bang for your buck on all the hottest tech items.
