With a number of updates released to Google+ yesterday, Google+ site now supports GIFs for your user profile photos. The GIFs work on both your desktop and mobile version of Google+ with some limitations (appear as still images next to user’s post) So don’t think you started seeing things when your friend’s user profile ‘winks’ at you.
